Virú S. A. carries out fumigation and disinfection campaigns in six regions of the country to battle COVID-19.

Aware that the pandemic requires greater efforts and resources to combat COVID-19, the agro-industrial company Viru S. A., committed to the health and welfare of its employees, communities of influence and major public institutions, has been conducting various fumigation and disinfection campaigns since the beginning of the national emergency in our country, benefiting various towns, municipalities, health centers, police stations, squares, markets, among other high traffic areas in the regions of La Libertad, Ica, Ancash, Lambayeque, San Martin and Lima.

Committed to the health and welfare of its areas of influence

  • The benefitted regions are: La Libertad, Ica, Ancash, Lambayeque, San Martín and Lima.
  • The company carried out the campaign in various towns, municipalities, health centers, police stations, squares, markets and other high-traffic areas.
  • Nearly 18,000 families have benefited, considering all the areas where these activities have been carried out.
  • “Despite the current situation, at Viru we have maintained our vision and objectives, and have continued to work with a responsible approach in all agricultural and industrial operations nationwide, oriented to ensure the health, safety, welfare and development of all our employees, their families and the people in our areas of influence,” said Oscar Echegaray, Viru’s Human Capital and Corporate Affairs Manager.

    The various authorities and the population in general are very satisfied with the implementation of this Covid-19 disinfection and prevention plan, as it helps to join efforts for the health and well-being of the communities benefited. The executive said that they have been carrying out these campaigns on a weekly basis in the Province of Viru, District of Moche and District of Simbal in the La Libertad Region. As well as in the Ica Region, in the districts of Chincha Alta, Chincha Baja, Sunampe and El Carmen.

    The list also includes the District of Huaura in Lima, the Province of Santa in Ancash, the District of Olmos in Lambayeque; and in the San Martin Region, the Districts of Caynarachi and Pampa Hermosa and the Villages of Bonilla, Davicillo, Naranjal, Alianza and El Pongo. In general, they benefited about 18,000 families considering all the areas where these activities have been carried out.

    In addition to these fumigation and disinfection campaigns, the company implemented the radio program “Virú faces COVID-19” on the main radio stations in the province of Virú, in La Libertad, to keep the population informed about the care and recommendations they should take to protect themselves from COVID-19. The company also supported the neediest families with baskets of basic necessities, tons of avocado and zucchini, as well as donations to public institutions of hygiene and disinfection materials, such as hand-washing stations, alcohol, sodium hypochlorite, masks, among others.
